Prix fixe menu template
One price, three courses, a choice under each, and the supplements printed instead of whispered. This is a sample prix fixe set in Gaslamp’s Upscale Contemporary design, with a numbered course down the margin.

The real menu, first two pages
The sample opens with the prix fixe line, the pairing, and a cheese course add-on. Then First, Main, Supplements, and Dessert, each numbered, each with a short “choose one” note beside the name.

The structure of a prix fixe menu
A prix fixe is a promise: this many courses for this much. The page should make the price and the choices obvious in five seconds and keep every upcharge on a line of its own.
The price, first
The fixed price opens the menu, with what it includes in the description. Add-ons that sit outside the price (a pairing, a cheese course) go right under it.
- Prix fixe, per guest65First, main, dessert
- Wine pairing, per guest40
First course
Three choices is the common number: one light, one rich, one vegetarian. More than four slows the table and the kitchen.
- Chilled pea soup14
- Beef carpaccio18
Main
Three or four mains that share components with the rest of the menu. A prix fixe works when the kitchen can fire it fast from shared prep.
- Pan-roasted chicken34
- Spring risotto30
Supplements
The steak upgrade, the foie gras, the truffle. Each has a price that is added to the prix fixe, and the note under the heading says so.
- Dry-aged strip in place of the hanger22
- Shaved truffle25
Dessert
Two or three. One of them should be dairy-free or vegan so every guest can finish the meal they paid for.
- Lemon tart12
- Sorbet trio10

How Upscale Contemporary sets it
The design sets each course as a numbered section with a large name and a short note beside it. That makes a prix fixe read like a sequence: I is the price, II the first course, and so on down the page.
Keep section names to one word and notes to a few. “Choose one” fits beside a course; the sentence explaining that course prices are à la carte belongs in the prix fixe line’s description, which is what the sample does.
The design sets prices at the right edge without leaders. The fixed price is the one a guest reads; the course prices sit quietly beside each dish for anyone ordering à la carte at the bar.
Prices on a prix fixe menu
Every Gaslamp item needs a price of at least $1; there is no unpriced line. On a prix fixe, the fixed price is its own line and each course dish carries its à la carte price, with one sentence saying so. If you never sell the dishes à la carte, use the number you would charge if you did.
Supplements are separate lines with the amount added, not the new total. “Dry-aged strip in place of the hanger, 22” tells a guest the upgrade costs twenty-two dollars more; a new total would make them do subtraction.
A tasting menu follows the same structure with more courses and no choices. Up to eight sections fit on one menu, so a seven-course tasting plus its supplements still works.
Set it up in Gaslamp
- 1
Start from this prix fixe
Pick Upscale Contemporary and start from this sample. Every section, line, and price is already in place, so you type your own over it instead of building a blank page.
- 2
Type your dishes over it
Replace each name, description, and price in the editor. Delete the lines you do not serve and add the ones you do. The layout reflows as you type.
- 3
Set the fixed price
Change the prix fixe line and its description first, then the pairing. Then type your courses over the samples, three to a course.
- 4
Publish, then print
Publish the live menu behind one QR code that never changes, print the table tents once, and print the PDF whenever the paper copy needs to catch up.
Running it
5:05 p.m.
A main changes at lineup
The fish did not come in. Rename the main to tonight’s substitute and adjust its description on your phone, then save. The QR menu has it before the first table sits.
8:30 p.m.
The supplement runs out
The last foie gras portion went out. Mark the supplement line sold out; the prix fixe itself does not change, and the next table never sees an upgrade you cannot serve.
Prix fixe menus, straight answers
- Is this prix fixe menu template free?
- Yes. The Upscale Contemporary PDF on this page is free to download and print, with no signup. It is a sample, so it carries sample dishes and prices. To put your own menu into the design, start the 14-day free trial, no card needed. The trial includes one published live menu with QR codes. PDF downloads and additional menus start when you pick a plan.
- What is the difference between prix fixe and a tasting menu?
- A prix fixe gives a choice within each course at one price. A tasting menu is usually a set sequence with no choices. Both fit this template; for a tasting menu, list one dish per course.
- How do I show supplements on a prix fixe?
- As their own lines, with the amount added to the prix fixe, in a section after the main. The note under the heading says the supplements are added per plate.
- Why do the courses show prices?
- Every Gaslamp item needs a price of at least a dollar. The courses carry an à la carte price, and the prix fixe line says so, which also serves guests ordering single dishes at the bar.
- How many courses can a prix fixe have?
- A Gaslamp menu holds up to twelve sections of twenty items, so a seven-course menu plus supplements and pairings fits with room to spare.
- How much does it cost?
- Start with a 30-day free trial, no credit card needed. Then it is $19 a month, or $190 a year (2 months free). No setup fee. Cancel anytime. The trial includes one published live menu with QR codes. PDF downloads and additional menus start when you pick a plan.
