The real menu, both pages
The sample is Trattoria Centrale, a fictional Northern Italian place in San Francisco: antipasti and primi on the first page, secondi and dolci on the second, each section with a line in italics under its name.

The Italian order of service
An Italian menu is a sequence, not a list. Guests who know it build a meal from it. Guests who don’t need the English to tell them a primo is pasta, not a starter.
Antipasti
For the table. Crudo, fritti, burrata, salumi. Price them to share and say so in the note under the heading.
- Burrata e prosciutto21
- Fritto misto18
Primi
Pasta, risotto, soup. If you serve half portions so a guest can eat a primo and a secondo, give each pasta two labeled prices, Half and Full, and say so once under the heading.
- Tagliatelle al ragù26
- Risotto ai funghi27
Secondi
Fish and meat, plated simply. Four to six is plenty; this is where the kitchen shows restraint.
- Branzino al forno38
- Brasato al Barolo36
Contorni
Sides for the secondi, priced on their own. A short section right after the mains, not buried at the bottom of the page.
- Patate al rosmarino9
Dolci
Tiramisù, panna cotta, affogato. Put the amaro and the dessert wine right under them, where the decision gets made.
- Affogato10
Example lines and prices show format only. They are not pricing advice.
Set it up in Gaslamp
- 1

Put the sections in the order they are eaten: antipasti first, dolci last. Type your dishes over the sample ones in each.
- 2
Italian name, English line
Italian in the dish name, what it is in the description: Brasato al Barolo, then wine-braised short rib, soft polenta.
- 3
Pick Coastal Mediterranean
Aegean blue and coral on warm white, two columns a page. Change the accent in the design controls if your room is more terracotta than sea.

Mark what’s gone
When the vongole run out, mark the line sold out from your phone. About thirty seconds after you save, the QR menu shows it struck through with “Sold out”.
Italian menus, straight answers
- Is this Italian menu template free?
- Yes. The Coastal Mediterranean PDF on this page is free to download and print, with no signup. It is a finished sample for Trattoria Centrale in San Francisco, a fictional restaurant, so it carries that restaurant’s dishes. To put your own menu into the design, start the 14-day free trial, no card needed. The trial includes one published live menu with QR codes. PDF downloads and additional menus start when you pick a plan.
- What order does an Italian menu follow?
- Antipasti, then primi (pasta, risotto, soup), then secondi (meat and fish) with contorni (sides) alongside, then dolci. A pizza or crudo section goes where it is eaten, usually after the antipasti.
- Should an Italian menu be written in Italian?
- Use Italian for the dish names if that is how your kitchen talks, with a plain English description under each one. The sample is set up exactly that way.
- Can I show half portions of pasta?
- Yes. Give the pasta two labeled prices, Half and Full, on one line; an item holds up to three prices. Say once under the Primi heading that half portions are available.
- How much does it cost?
- Start with a 30-day free trial, no credit card needed. Then it is $19 a month, or $190 a year (2 months free). No setup fee. Cancel anytime. The trial includes one published live menu with QR codes. PDF downloads and additional menus start when you pick a plan.
