The real menu, first two pages

The sample fits a restaurant’s whole beverage program on one landscape page and a half: cocktails and draft beer on the left, bottles and cans and the wine list on the right (glass and bottle prices side by side), then zero proof.

What belongs on a restaurant drink menu

A restaurant drink menu is not a bar menu. It sits beside the food menu, it has to cover every kind of guest in a few lines each, and it should be short enough to read before the server comes back.

  1. Cocktails

Five or six: a few house drinks and the classics your bar makes well. The spirit first in each description.

    • Old fashioned14
    • Aperol spritz12
  2. Beer

Draft with the pour size in the note, then bottles and cans. Style and ABV in the description, and one non-alcoholic beer.

    • IPA8Citrus and pine, 6.8%
    • Non-alcoholic IPA6
  3. Wine by the glass

Four to eight pours covering sparkling, a white, a rosé, and a red or two, each with its glass and bottle price on one line. The pour size goes in the note.

    • Pinot Grigio, Alto AdigeGlass 11 / Bottle 42
    • Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso RoblesGlass 14 / Bottle 54
  4. Bottle-only wines

A few wines you sell only by the bottle, after the glass pours, with one price each. A deep list belongs on its own wine list.

    • Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley68
  5. Zero proof

Two or three made drinks, lemonade, and sodas. Price the made drinks as drinks.

    • Ginger lime fizz7
    • Fresh lemonade5

Example lines and prices show format only. They are not pricing advice.

How Elegant Landscape sets it

Elegant Landscape turns the page sideways into two columns with a rule between them, which is the shape of a drink card that stands next to a portrait food menu. Guests read across: cocktails and beer, then wine.

Section names are spaced caps and the note sits to their right, so keep notes to a few words (“16 oz pour”, “6 oz pour”). A longer note wraps the section name onto several lines, which the sample avoids.

Prices sit in a column at the right edge of each half. The QR code prints on the cover page; if the drink card lives in a holder on the table, the table tent beside it can carry the same menu’s code.

Other drink documents: if you only need the cocktails, the cocktail menu template; for wine alone, the wine list template; and for a bar’s drinks and food on one menu, the bar menu template.

Prices on a drink menu

A wine sold by the glass and the bottle is one line with two labeled prices, Glass and Bottle, in the Wine section. The sample does exactly that, and bottle-only wines follow with one price.

Beer pours and wine pours are stated once in the section note instead of on every line.

Happy hour prices are not a second price on the same line. Build a Happy Hour section and show it during happy hour, or keep a separate happy hour menu; Gaslamp does not switch prices by the clock.

The start of the sample, as plain lines: section, dish, price, a short description. You type yours over them in the editor.
  1. 1

    Start from this drink menu

Pick Elegant Landscape and start from this sample. Every section, line, and price is already in place, so you type your own over it instead of building a blank page.

  2. 2

    Type your dishes over it

Replace each name, description, and price in the editor. Delete the lines you do not serve and add the ones you do. The layout reflows as you type.

  3. 3

Glass and bottle on one line

For each wine you pour, give it two labeled prices, Glass and Bottle. State the pour once in the section note.

  4. 4

    Publish, then print

Publish the live menu behind one QR code that never changes, print the table tents once, and print the PDF whenever the paper copy needs to catch up.

Running it

  1. 8:10 p.m.

    The IPA keg kicks

Mark the IPA sold out on your phone and save. About thirty seconds later the QR drink menu shows it struck through, and the next table orders what is still pouring.

  2. Monday

    New by-the-glass red

The Cabernet is gone and a Syrah replaces it. Edit the name, note, and price on both the glass and bottle lines, save, and print a fresh card when you are ready.

Drink menu menus, straight answers

Is this drink menu template free?
Yes. The Elegant Landscape PDF on this page is free to download and print, with no signup. It is a sample, so it carries sample dishes and prices. To put your own menu into the design, start the 14-day free trial, no card needed. The trial includes one published live menu with QR codes. What should a restaurant drink menu include?
A few cocktails, draft and bottled beer with one non-alcoholic option, wine by the glass and by the bottle, and zero-proof drinks. The sample covers all of them on one landscape page and a half.
Should the drink menu be separate from the food menu?
Many restaurants hand over a separate drink card. In Gaslamp it can be its own menu with its own QR code on a paid plan, or a set of sections on the main menu.
How do I show glass and bottle prices?
On one line with two labeled prices, Glass and Bottle. An item holds up to three.
What happens when a keg kicks?
Mark the beer sold out and save. About thirty seconds later the hosted drink menu shows it struck through with “Sold out”. When the next keg is tapped, rename the line or tap it back on.
How much does it cost?
Start with a 30-day free trial, no credit card needed. Then it is $19 a month, or $190 a year (2 months free). No setup fee. Cancel anytime. The trial includes one published live menu with QR codes. PDF downloads and additional menus start when you pick a plan.
